Amelia May Alcock (born 11 April 2000) is an Australian actress best known for portraying a young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO television series House of the Dragon (2022)[1]. She also appeared in Janet King (2017), A Place to Call Home, Fighting Season, Pine Gap (2018), Les Norton (2019), The Gloaming, Reckoning (2020), and Upright (2019–2022).

Life and career

Alcock was born 11 April 2000 [2][3] and raised in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[4] Her first appearance on television was as a teenager in Wonderland in 2014.[4] Some other early work included playing Isabella Barrett in High Life, playing Cindi Jackson in series three of Janet King (both 2017), and appearing in television adverts for NBN, Cadbury, KFC, & Woolworths.[5]

Alcock attended Sydney’s Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, but dropped out to pursue a role in Upright,[6] where she plays a runaway teenager Meg, hitchhiking across 2,000 miles of the Australian outback,[7] a contributing factor to her being presented with a Casting Guild of Australia Rising Star Award 2018.[8] Alcock was also nominated for Best Comedy Performer but lost out to her Upright co-star Tim Minchin.[9]

In 2021, Alcock landed a recurring role as the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, a prequel to Game of Thrones which premiered on 21 August 2022.[10]

Alcock was in Queensland for the filming of series 2 of Upright in March 2022.[2]
