Archibald Charles Manning[1] is an American football quarterback at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is the number-one ranked pro-style quarterback in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports.[2] He is a member of the Manning football family.
Manning is a member of the Manning football family. He is the oldest son of Cooper, the grandson of Archie, and the nephew of Peyton and Eli. He emerged on the football scene before high school, when highlights of him passing went viral on Twitter.[3]
In his freshman season, Manning was the varsity starter at quarterback, making him the first freshman quarterback to start Newman's season opener in at least 40 years.[4] He shined in his debut, leading Newman to a 26-point victory. “He doesn’t look like a freshman. That maturity and how you handle those tight moments are where the greatness can come," his coach said afterward.[5] Later, in October of his freshman season, Archie Manning said that Arch was ahead of uncles Peyton and Eli at the same age.[6]
Manning completed his freshman season with 2,407 yards and 34 touchdowns, earning MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors.[7] As a sophomore, Manning opened the season by throwing for six touchdowns.[8] On October 15, 2020, Manning made his national television debut in a game against Booker T. Washington. He threw for two touchdowns and rushed for an additional two touchdowns.[9]
To avoid a media frenzy, Manning's family has withheld him from media interviews and also declined premature college scholarship offers. He also notably runs a private account on Instagram, only allowing friends and coaches to follow him, including Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, who only followed Manning upon the formation of his account. "They've shut down everything," said one member of the local media, "but the attention is going to come."[1] In his college search, he visited SMU, Clemson, LSU, [10] Alabama, Texas,[11] Georgia,[12] and Virginia[13] as well as his grandfather's and uncle Eli’s former team, Ole Miss, but verbally commited to Texas.[14][15]

According to Newman head coach Nelson Stewart, Manning "has such a good level of humility. He doesn't like attention and he doesn't draw attention to himself. He just likes hanging out with his friends." For the time being has largely stayed off social media; while he told ESPN's Mark Schlabach in October 2021 that he "checks it [social media] for other stuff", he had at the time made only five posts to his Instagram account. Manning babysits twice a week during summers and occasionally on weekends; he notably took a FaceTime call from Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian in July 2021 while at an arcade with his charges. His grandfather has also noted his humility, telling Schlabach,[4]
Arch is a sweet kid. He never gives anybody a problem. I'm proud of him. I've had three or four of the freshmen's daddies come up and tell me how Arch is nice to their sons. These are freshmen who aren't playing and are probably getting kicked around at practice a little bit. That makes me proud of him.
...Arch, 17, prefers to keep details of his day-to-day life and where he might be going to college private.
