The film stars Salman Khan, Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu with an ensemble supporting cast. The film is a remake of the Tamil film Veeram (2014).

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan released theatrically on 21 April 2023, coinciding with Eid.[4][5] The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its cast performances, action sequences and music with criticism for its direction and dialogues. As of 4 May 2023, it has grossed over ₹177.48 crore worldwide[3] and is the third-highest grossing Hindi film of 2023.[6]

Plot

Bhaijaan, a brave person, lives with his three brothers Ishq, Moh and Love in a colony of Delhi, and are often caught in fights. Bhaijaan hates the idea of marriage as he feels that his wife might create disharmony among brothers. Though the younger brothers pretend they don't want to get married, they all have secret lovers: Sukun, Muskaan and Chahat.

The brothers learn through Nadeem Chacha that Bhaijaan was in love with a girl named Bhagyalakshmi (fondly called Bhagya) and his brothers scheme to find her and reintroduce her to Bhaijaan to rekindle their relationship, but later finds that she is married now and has a son. The brothers conspire to find another woman named Bhagyalakshmi, because Bhaijaan was not in love with that girl so much as her name, where they finally meets another girl named Gundamaneni Bhagyalakshmi, a Telugu-speaking girl, and they finally make Bhagya and Bhaijaan fall for each other.

Bhaijaan clashes with a goon called Mahavir to take care of the colony. Mahavir tries to attack the colony, but Bhaijaan thwarts their attempts. While travelling in train to Bhagya's village in Andhra Pradesh, Bhaijaan learns that Bhagya's brother Gundamaneni Balakrishna actually hates violence. Later, few goons enter into the train, but Bhaijaan bashes all the goons, Bhagya is shocked to see Bhaijaan whom she thought as a non-violent person, where she tries to leave for her village, but Bhaijaan convinces Bhagya and tells that he would never harbor violence again.

Bhaijaan and his brothers, along with Bhagya arrive at Bhagya's village with clean shaven look, where he and his brothers are welcomed and respected by her family. Bhaijaan is touched and impressed by their love, affection and hospitality. Bhaijaan discovers that a goon named Kodati Nageshwara wants to kill Balakrishna and his family, and had also joined Mahavir to take down Bhaijaan also. Learning this, Balakrishna seeks forgiveness from Nageshwara. It is revealed that Nageshwara's father Rameshwara was supplying narcotics at his coffee factory. Balakrishna, who was formerly a goon called 'Rowdy' Anna complained against Rameshwara, who later dies after his reputation gets damaged.

Nageshwara witnessed his father's death and swore revenge against Balakrishna, who later quit violence for Bhagya and his family, who are unaware of this. Bhaijaan and his brother, along with Balakrishna and his family arrive in Delhi, where Nageshwara and Mahavir attacks them, but Bhaijaan and a changed Balakrishna manages to kill Nageshwar. Bhaijaan also manages to kill Mahavir and saves his family and the colony.

Development

Director Farhad Samji initially sought to remake the 2014 Tamil film Veeram as Bachchhan Paandey (previously titled Land of Lungi) with Akshay Kumar. However later, he changed the script of Bachchhan Paandey to be the remake of another Tamil film Jigarthanda instead. As Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment held the remake rights of both the films, Samji tweaked Veeram's story and pitched to Salman Khan who accepted the film.[7][8] Later, Nadiadwala walked out of the project and gave the rights to Khan, who then decided to make the film under his banner Salman Khan Films.[9]

The film was announced on 10 January 2020 with the title Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. However, it was later postponed for a longtime and suffered numerous pre-production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and later it was revived with the reported title Bhaijaan. However, in August 2022, the film's official title was announced as Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.[10]

Casting

In February 2020, Pooja Hegde was signed as the female lead.[11] In December 2021, Venkatesh joined the cast, marking his comeback to Hindi cinema after Taqdeerwala (1995).[12] Jassie Gill, Siddharth Nigam and Raghav Juyal were roped in to play Khan's brothers in the film.[13][14]

Punjabi cinema actress Shehnaaz Gill,[15] South Indian cinema actress Malvika Sharma,[16] newbie Palak Tiwari[17] and boxer-politician Vijender Singh were signed, marking their Hindi film debut with the film. Jagapathi Babu was signed in to play a pivotal role. Aasif Sheikh was signed in to play pivotal role, Ram Charan was cast for a special appearance.[18][19]

Filming

Principal photography began on 12 May 2022 in Mumbai.[20] Later in June, the production moved to Hyderabad.[21][22] In August 2022, a song was filmed along with some portions in Ladakh.[23] The shooting of the film was wrapped up in February 2023.[24]
